Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Candidate Version

Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Candidate Version: The update is available today for MSDN and TechNet members and indicates a near-final status that should lead to a finished version reaching the public during the spring. Unofficial reports have previously corroborated the February RC timeframe and have predicted an April timeframe for a 'gold' release.

Unlike the primarily maintenance-driven SP1 from last year, SP2 is intended as a feature addition release and adds support for Blu-ray disc burning and Bluetooth 2.1 as well as simpler Wi-Fi setup. It also continues to improve performance and stability and should also improve security. The release is the final major fix for Vista before the release of Windows 7, which is now increasingly expected to ship in September.
